Zap!

We got a new TV last Christmas, which went in the living room. We also had a 20 inch TV/DVD combo in our bedroom, which we moved to the basement for the Wii, and moved the 11 year old 27 inch tube TV from the living room to our bedroom.

Last night I turned the bedroom TV on with the sleep timer, and just as I was dozing off, I heard a little "pop!" and the screen faded out but the TV started making a click, click sound. I got up and unplugged the TV, and noticed it had a funny smell. I think I was lucky that I woke up when the TV went out.

Eek! That's scary! I am glad you woke up. Glad it didn't start a fire or something!

A long time ago, I read that you should never fall asleep with the TV on because sometimes the tubes burst and can put out a deadly gas. I guess it's not an issue with LCD and plasma TVs. But I've always remembered that, even though I fall asleep with the TV on pretty much every night.
