I commented on someone's post earlier this week about my affection for SoapNet.
For lack of a meaningful post, let me tell you the story of how I got hooked on soaps.
When I was 14, my friend asked me to watch General Hospital for her for a week while she was at camp. Looking back now, I realize that was a ridiculous request, because you can go much longer than a week without watching a soap opera, and never really miss anything.
I continued to watch after she returned from camp. Once I turned on the TV a little early, and "Hey, One Life to Live is interesting."
Once I somehow turned the TV on much too early, and there was All My Children.
I occasionally catch a snippet of Days of our Lives, and I watch half of Young and the Restless in the mornings while I get ready and my son is still asleep.
Really, I can take them or leave them, and I have been known to stop watching for months at a time. Normally I only know what's going on in one or two of them.
So...Um. What a pointless post. Do I have a favorite? The answer to that changes with the storylines. I think right now I prefer One Life to Live.
I also watch the news. And Modern Family and the Office. But really, I don't watch much TV. Only early morning and later in the evening.

My mom watches All My Children every day. And she has for years. It's amazing! She is so dedicated.
I started watching Passions when it first started. Then, we moved to a new house and didn't have cable for a week. That broke that habit! LOL.
I watched a lot of soaps back in the day, finally dwindled down to just All My Children, and now I can't even remember the last time I watched it. I have a feeling I could catch up in no time, though, right?
I grew up watching Y&R and used to skip school to watch them. My sisters got me hooked on Guiding light for a while and bold and the Beautiful came on right after Y&R so of course that was another staple. When I was in high school I watched a canceled one called Santa Barbara and had crushes on all the men. Then somehow I just stopped and forget exactly why. It's funny though, you're right. I can turn on Y&R right now and know exactly what's going on because I still know who all the characters are.
