Race for a ring

Remember the saga of my son and his future plans to marry "Lucy"? Well, apparently there is a third boy in the mix who wants to marry Lucy. Many more and we'll have another season of The Bachelorette to be aired in about 20 years.

Anyway, out of the blue, my son told me "If I want to marry Lucy, I need to give her a ring." I told him that the boy usually does give the girl a ring when he asks her to marry him, and asked where he heard that. "Lucy told me." Oh. She's giving direction now. He went on to say "'Robert' wants to marry her now, too. She said she'll marry whoever gives her a ring first when we're grown up."

My son has his first job! Our neighbors are on vacation, and have offered him $2 to check their mail. He's quite excited about it and "practiced" by checking our mail the day before.

I think the mouse saga is done. We finished cleaning the basement. Found a small pile of birdseed in the corner. We don't keep birdseed in our basement. Apparently the crafty little guy carried birdseed in. Weird. Glad they're gone, and there are no more fun hiding spots in the basement, thank you very much. It looks great it that storage area!

The last contest I held on there was won by a blogger!

Is your son going to save those $2 in an engagement ring fund?

-R- - Ha! Most of it will probably go into his piggybank for whatever superhero or Transformer he is saving for next, although he said he might put some into our family savings for a Wii "Not a whole dollar - Maybe a quarter." :-) If we told him what an engagement ring costs, he might rethink this whole early wedding planning thing. (you could buy a lot of superheroes for that kind of money!)

Lucy certainly has her future all mapped out, doesn't she? Hee.

$2 would have seemed like a fortune to me at that age!

His first paying job - how cute!

Lucy sounds like she's gonna be a real player.

First job, too cute. Charlie use to sit out a stand, like other kids would sell lemonade or Kool-aid, and draw pictures for money.

I can't believe he's even old enough to reach a mailbox already! Time flies, right?
