The seventh is compost

You've heard of the silver anniversary, the golden anniversary, etc? Well, at our house, the seventh anniversary has been deemed the compost anniversary.

Last summer we started composting. To a small degree. We brought all our compostible waste outside, hubby made a heap, buried it...I'm not sure how successful it has been.

I spotted a very reasonably priced compost bin at Sam's Club, and bought it for hubby for our anniversary. If it works as it says, and does what the picture on the box shows, we are going to be turning our produce scraps and leaves into some pretty sweet mulch and fertilizer for our garden.

The best part? Hubby was thrilled. Because really, nothing says "I love you" like compost.

Awesome! But would you have been thrilled with that gift if hubby gave it to you??

As long as it made you both happy, composting is good! ;-)

That's awesome. Funny then things that make our spouses happy.. I'd actually love to get a composter, I didn't know Sams sold them.

It's amazing what gifts thrill us as we get more mature. LOL.

I sort of started a compost bin last year, was pretty good about it for awhile, then mostly neglected it through the winter. A couple of days ago I noticed a couple of tiny tomato plants had sprung up in there. Bonus! Hee.

Cool! I've thought about composting, but haven't done anything more than think at this point. If this goes like most of my "new project" ideas, I'll think about it for another years and then finally do it. :-)

We're required to compost here. Either we have to buy a bin from the city and compost at home, or we have to pay to have yard waste and food scrap collection, which the city composts and then sells at garden centers. The not-so-funny part of it is that the city itself is pretty lax about composting its own yard waste from parks and public areas.
